Mount Wuya Kachui – Manipur’s mystical hillock of flowers
The mist-covered Wuya Kachui, which translates to Mountain of Sleep Paralysis thanks to a local legend, is popular for its wuyawon or pink orchid ginger flowers that clothe the hillsides in pink in July every year, attracting tourists.

Although the flower has been blooming in the area for a long time, the villagers didn’t pay much attention to its beauty. Today, Mt. Wuya Kachui is one of the most visited tourist sites in Ukhrul district along with the Shirui peak where Shirui Lily, the endemic state flower of Manipur, blooms.
