Women are changing the wedding photography scene in Kashmir, a field once dominated by men. Meet two inspiring photographers, Syeeda Sakeena and Aaisha Irtika from Kashmir, who share their journeys, challenges, and experiences in capturing beautiful moments at Kashmiri weddings.
Being a female wedding photographer is tough. It requires skill, physical strength, and emotional resilience. Week after week, these women take on the challenge, driven by their passion. No longer on the sidelines, they are now leading the way in capturing special moments, breaking gender norms, and telling cultural stories through their cameras.
Syeeda and Aaisha talk about the difficulties they face in a male-dominated industry and explain why having female photographers is important for brides who feel more comfortable with a woman capturing their special day. They often get assignments in rural areas where traditional customs are strong, providing a supportive and respectful presence for the brides.
These photographers inspire young women in the region to follow their dreams without fear. As the industry changes, these women are creating a colorful and diverse world that values individuality and challenges old norms.
